Masunaga is where Japanese eyewear began. Founded in Fukui in 1905, the house established the region that still produces the world’s finest frames today. Over 200 production steps are completed in Masunaga’s own factory, from raw titanium and celluloid to finished frame.
The result is eyewear with a history no other brand can claim. In 1933, Masunaga presented three solid gold frames to the Emperor of Japan, and those frames still inspire the GMS series today. More than a century on, every frame is finished with high-grade Japanese titanium, hand-polished acetate, seven-barrel hinges and silver rivets.
"We make good glasses. Glasses that may not generate a lot of profit, but are good for our customers."
