Find your fit

Find your perfect frame

Choosing a new frame starts with personal taste, but finding a style that complements your features and provides all-day comfort is just as essential.

Every face is unique, yet most can be grouped into six general shapes: oval, round, square, base-up triangle, base-down triangle, and diamond.

To help you find the perfect fit, we’ve crafted the guide below as your personal Eyecare Project expert. Enjoy a tailored experience from the comfort of your home – or visit our store to receive personalised advice from one of our experts.

Round

A round face shape features soft curves and prominent cheekbones. Eyecare Project recommends angular frames with a wide, narrow design to add contrast and definition.

Diamond

A diamond face shape is widest at the center, tapering at the top and bottom. Eyecare Project recommends subtle metal frames in light to medium weight and colour for a balanced look.

Square

A square face shape features equal width from the forehead to the cheekbones. Eyecare Project recommends rounder silhouettes to soften the angles and add balance.

Oval

An oval face shape is well-balanced, narrow, and elongated. Those with an oval face can confidently wear most Eyecare Project frames.

Triangle Base Down

A base-down triangle face is wider at the jawline than the forehead. Eyecare Project recommends frames in bold colours or with a strong brow line to add balance and definition.

Triangle Base Up

A base-up triangle face, resembling a heart shape, is wider at the forehead with a narrow chin. Eyecare Project recommends wider frames with a soft, understated shape to create harmony and balance.

Your Eyebrows

The most flattering glasses and sunglasses mirror the shape of your brow, creating harmony between the lines of your face and those of the frame.

  • If you have relatively straight eyebrows, opt for a frame with a straightened browline.
  • If your eyebrows are curved, consider frames with a more rounded or arched browline.

Your eyebrows should generally sit above the frame – if they’re inside the frame, the glasses may be too large for you (unless that’s the look you’re going for).

Your Eyes

For the best fit and vision, your eyes should ideally be positioned near the centre of the lenses, sitting within the upper third of the lens.

Your Ears

The spectacle temples (often called the ‘arms’ or ‘legs’) should curve comfortably around your ears to keep your frames secure.

Your ears are what hold your spectacles in place – no slipping, no sliding. You should feel confident enough to look down, concentrate deeply, and even ponder life’s big questions without worrying about your glasses shifting.

For the best fit, the temples should bend precisely above your ears. If they bend too early, your frames may tilt and affect both comfort and clarity. If they bend too late, your glasses can feel loose and unstable.

A proper fit should feel firm and secure – holding your frames in place without pinching or leaving marks.

And if the fit isn’t quite right at first, an Eyecare Project optical associate can easily adjust the acetate or metal temples to ensure a perfect, comfortable fit.
