Are your eyes dry, itchy
or have styes?

You’re not alone.

Traditional dry eye treatments, such as artificial tears and eye drops, can provide temporary relief, but they don’t address the underlying cause of the problem.

At Eyecare Project, we offer convenient, personalised, and comprehensive dry eye assessments and treatments, addressing everything from dry eyes to meibomian gland dysfunction.

Our advanced therapies improve tear quality and eye comfort, giving you clear, comfortable vision for everyday life.

INTRODUCING

The first and only IPL FDA approved for management of dry eye.

Originally designed for dermatological issues such as rosacea and acne, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) has proven to be both highly effective and safe. The Lumenis® IPL, however, is specifically tailored for ocular conditions, providing targeted and innovative treatment to alleviate dry eye symptoms.

The Lumenis® IPL treatment is:
  • Painless: The pulses of light feel like a warm sensation on your eyelids.
  • Quick: The entire procedure typically takes less than 20 minutes.
  • Effective: Studies show significant improvement in dry eye symptoms after just a few treatments.

Benefits of IPL for Dry Eyes

During the Lumenis® procedure, the heat emanating from the light helps liquify and release oils that have hardened and clogged the meibomian glands in the eyelids, thus reducing blockages that cause dry eye symptoms and improving the quality of your tears.

Restore Meibomian Glands

Improve meibomian gland morphology and functionality

Reduce Inflammatory Mediators

Decrease the level of pro-inflammatory mediators to inhibit inflammation

Alleviate Abnormal Blood Vessels

Destroy the abnormal blood vessels that perpetuate inflammation

Improve Tear Breakup Time

Significantly boost tear break up time and decrease osmolarity

Decrease Demodex

Decrease the population of Demodex mites, which stimulate infection and boost the bacterial load on eyelids

How does IPL work?

A handheld device is gently used to deliver precise pulses of light to your eyelids at specific wavelengths (between 515 and 695 nm).

During the Lumenis® IPL procedure, the heat from the light softens and releases hardened oils that clog the meibomian glands, reducing blockages that cause dry eye symptoms and improving tear quality. It also induces changes in red blood vessels near the surface of the skin and eyes, increases skin temperature, and eliminates problematic flora.

By targeting the meibomian glands, which produce the oil layer of your tears, this painless treatment helps keep your eyes lubricated. The entire procedure takes just 20 minutes.

Effective multifactorial treatment for a multifactorial disease

How is it different?

Standard dry eye treatments, such as eye drops, artificial tears, hot compresses, and eyelid scrubs, aim to temporarily relieve symptoms instead of treating the root cause of the condition.

Meibomian Gland Stimulation: Lumenis® IPL stimulates clogged meibomian glands, which cause over 80% of dry eye cases, improving the oil layer of tears and preventing rapid evaporation.

Targeted Light Energy: Lumenis® IPL delivers precise light pulses to the skin around the eyes, activating the glands while ensuring patient comfort and protecting surrounding tissues.

Reduction of Inflammation: Lumenis® IPL reduces eyelid inflammation, easing dry eye symptoms and slowing the progression of chronic dry eye.

This not only relieves symptoms but also slows the progression of chronic dry eye.

Every dry eye treatment we offer is tailored to your unique needs, combining personalised care with advanced therapies like Lumenis® IPL to provide lasting relief and improved eye health.
